With the increase of polymerization degree, the physical appearance and properties of Cbz-PEG gradually change, those with a relative molecular weight of 200-600 are liquid at room temperature, and those with a relative molecular weight of 600 or more gradually become semi-solid. As the molecular weight increases, Cbz-PEG changes from a colorless and odorless viscous liquid to a waxy solid, and its moisture absorption capacity decreases accordingly.

Cbz-PEG has the chemical property of alcohol and can be esterified with fatty acid to produce an ester. Cbz-PEG is soluble in water, ethanol, and many organic solvents. Cbz-PEG is stable to heat, acid, and alkali, and does not interact with many chemicals. Cbz-PEG has good hygroscopicity, adhesion, lubricity, and is non-toxic and non-irritating.

Water absorption

When the temperature rises, any grade of solid Cbz-PEG can be miscible with water in any ratio. When the temperature reaches the boiling point of water, the polymer will precipitate out, the precipitation temperature depends on the molecular weight and concentration of the polymer. Bioavailability stable Cbz-PEG is a non-ionic polymer, it is stable under normal conditions, it can oxidize with oxygen in the air at 120℃ or higher, and it will not change at 200~240℃ when it is protected by an inert gas such as carbon dioxide or nitrogen when it rises to about 300℃, the molecular chain link will break and degrade.

Pharmaceuticals non-toxic 98% Cbz-PEG is a polymer of ethylene oxide hydrolysis product, which is non-toxic and non-irritating and is widely used in various pharmaceutical preparations. The toxicity of low molecular weight Cbz-PEGs is relatively high, and on balance, the toxicity of diols is quite low. Topical application of PEG-based drugs, especially for mucosal administration, can cause irritation and pain. Cbz-PEG can be used to make new hypoglycemic drugs.
