On May 15, 2026, the Phase II facility of Sichuan Pukang Pharmaceutical was officially completed and commissioned.
The expansion further strengthens Pukang’s manufacturing capabilities for long-acting peptide side chains, upstream peptide raw materials and oligonucleotide intermediates, while further integrating the Group’s dual-site model of R&D in Chengdu and manufacturing in Yuechi.
Sichuan Pukang Pharmaceutical is a key manufacturing site of Pukang Weixin Group. The company has long focused on upstream materials for peptide therapeutics, including side chains, specialty building blocks and intermediates used in areas such as GLP-1 therapeutics, long-acting insulin and other modified peptide programs.
The Phase II project represents a total investment of RMB 400 million. Together, Phase I and Phase II cover approximately 103 mu, or 17 acres. The expansion includes four new chemical production workshops, two warehouses, tank storage, a QC and R&D building, as well as supporting environmental protection and utility facilities.

Following the Phase II expansion, the Yuechi manufacturing site now operates nearly 200 reactors with a combined reaction volume of approximately 500 cubic meters.
At full designed capacity, the site is expected to support annual production of approximately 100 metric tons of long-acting peptide side chains and 300 metric tons of other peptide intermediates.
As peptide programs move from early development toward clinical and commercial stages, sourcing requirements extend well beyond the ability to synthesize a target structure. Batch consistency, scale-up capability, delivery reliability and long-term supply become increasingly important.
The additional capacity enables Pukang to support projects ranging from early-stage development quantities to kilogram-, hundred-kilogram- and commercial-scale supply.

The Phase II project also includes a new QC and R&D center equipped with more than 50 analytical and development instruments, including LC-MS, HPLC and IC systems.
For long-acting peptide side chains, specialty amino acids and other complex intermediates, scale-up requires close coordination between development, manufacturing and analytical control.
The expanded facilities provide additional support for process development, analytical method development, impurity studies, scale-up evaluation and commercial batch testing.

The Phase II facility is designed to support a broad range of process conditions relevant to peptide upstream materials and specialty intermediates.
Ultra-low-temperature reaction equipment covers temperatures down to approximately -75°C, supported by low-temperature centrifugation, drying and milling equipment for temperature-sensitive materials.
Multiple independent temperature-control systems provide different operating ranges for various reaction stages, while closed processing and automated level-control systems help reduce operational variability and material-handling risks.
The production lines are also equipped with a distributed control system (DCS) for centralized monitoring and control of key equipment, valves and instrumentation, together with real-time monitoring of utilities including water, electricity and steam.
For scale-up manufacturing, this level of automation supports not only production efficiency but also greater repeatability and process traceability across batches.
The Phase II facility incorporates additional controls for hydrogenation, low-temperature processing and other specialized chemical operations.
Nitrogen purging, nitrogen protection and closed material charging can be used to reduce material exposure during production. Hydrogenation operations are supported by controlled procedures covering pressure testing, gas replacement, oxygen monitoring, hydrogen charging, sampling and discharge.
The site is also equipped with an RTO waste-gas treatment system, automated wastewater treatment facilities, enclosed production areas and dedicated ventilation and material-management systems to support environmental compliance and site operation.

The continued development of GLP-1 therapeutics, multi-agonist peptides, long-acting insulin and other peptide medicines is increasing the complexity of upstream raw-material requirements.
In addition to conventional protected amino acids, many programs involve specialty amino acids, fatty-acid side chains, linkers, PEG/AEEA-based spacers, short peptides and other complex intermediates.
As these programs advance, supplier requirements increasingly shift from early-stage sample availability toward scalable manufacturing, consistent quality and reliable long-term supply.
Pukang has established capabilities spanning R&D, laboratory development, pilot-scale production and commercial manufacturing to support peptide-related projects at different stages of development.
The commissioning of the Phase II facility further expands this platform and strengthens the company’s ability to support long-acting peptide and other innovative drug programs at commercial scale.
Pukang currently operates a dual-site model combining R&D capabilities in Chengdu with scale-up and manufacturing capabilities in Yuechi.
The Chengdu site focuses on product development, route development, analytical studies and small-scale project support, while the Yuechi site provides pilot-scale and commercial manufacturing capabilities.
With the Phase II facility now in operation, the two sites further strengthen the transition from product development and process optimization to scale-up and commercial supply.
Pukang will continue to expand its capabilities in long-acting peptide side chains, specialty amino acids, peptide intermediates, linkers, PEG-related building blocks and other upstream peptide raw materials, supporting customers from early development through commercial manufacturing.
